Declaration

If you are under 18 years of age, you will need your agreement co-signed by a parent or legal guardian:

Consent and release agreement

The Australian Parliament and the Department of the House of Representatives (collectively referred to in this agreement as ‘the Parliament’) developed the My First Speech competition to provide senior secondary school students across Australia with a platform to not only share their passion for an Australian issue, but to also advocate and articulate solutions as a federal member of the House of Representatives would in a speech to the chamber.

  • I give consent for the Parliament to use and publish my name, my year group, my town/state, my electorate and my submission to the My First Speech competition (including quotations attributable to you) in electronic and printed materials, and the Parliament’s websites.

  • I am aware that information published on the internet is accessible to users all over the world and the Parliament has no control over the possible subsequent use and distribution of submissions by third parties.

  • I agree to license my entry under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY‑NC‑ND 4.0) licence. Under this licence, I retain copyright in my work, but grant the department and the Australian Parliament a perpetual, non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, and share the speech in unadapted form, including but not limited to publication on websites, social media, and print materials.

  • I acknowledge that I am not entitled to any remuneration, royalties or payment in respect of the use of the work submitted to the My First Speech competition.

  • Should I be invited to Parliament House, I give consent for the Parliament to create video recordings and photographs of me and of my accompanying parent/guardian as part of the competition and to publish these images online or in printed form.

  • I agree to the terms and conditions for the My First Speech competition available on the entry form and on the My First Speech website at Terms and conditions.

By signing this form, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the My First Speech terms and conditions.
